How much RAM do you need for gaming?

For mobile gaming in 2026, 6 GB is comfortable and 8 GB is plenty. 4 GB still works for most titles but is where you start feeling it. The more useful point, though, is that free memory matters much less than the number on the box suggests.

Empty memory is wasted memory

Android deliberately keeps recently used apps in RAM. That is not a leak or a fault: memory sitting empty does nothing for you, whereas memory holding an app you might reopen saves you a slow reload. Android evicts those apps automatically the moment something needs the space.
